It is now a common situation when DOI (Digital Object Identifier) is used instead of the URL when citing various sources found on the World Wide Web and in electronic journals. When citing a journal article, DOIs (https://doi.org/10.000.000) should only be included if they relate to the electronic form of the original source. If there is no DOI, it is acceptable to use the URL leading to the article. If you possess both URL and DOI, always use the latter.

Example:

Bajwa, Junaid, Usman Munir, Aditya Nori, and Bryan Williams. “Artificial Intelligence in

Healthcare: Transforming the Practice of Medicine.” Future Healthcare Journal 8, no. 2 (2021): e188. https://doi.org/10.7861/fhj.2021-0095.
